Best flashlight for when tshtf
 

Well, you don't need to wait for tshtf to have a good flashlight.
I bought a little task flashlight today at the local OSH store...I'm amazed at the power of this 1 AA light. I bought this one for $18. http://www.dorcy.com/products.aspx?p=414253
Take a look at the 1 watt and high power luxeon. I don't think you'll be disappointed!

I like having a BRIGHT tactical flashlight and a smaller led headlamp on hand. Both have very different purposes and really compliment one another.

I love my Streamlight STRion. It is rechargable and is unreal how bright it is, you could spotlight deer with it.

Get one of the LED ones that have a headband so you can keep both hands free.

I use a single AA battery torch, brand is LED Laser, made in Germany and cost over $100,s. I get around 40 hours out of a battery and have spot-lighted deer with it. I also use a Petzl brand head lamp, it too cost over $100's. These are two different tools for different jobs. Don't skimp on survival equipment and torches/ headlamps are survival equipment, you get what you pay for.

Surefire makes good lights.
I have G2 Nitrolon @ 60 lumens and L4 Lumamax at 100 lumens. Both use 2 Lithium 123A battery.

I always carry a 200+ lumen and a 10 lumen flashlight on my key chain. Very practical to have.

Just ordered a 3D MAG from www.flashlightking.com so I can mod it with a 700-900 lumen led (SSC P7). It's a very simple and cheap mod.

Find a nice OLD High Quality Antique flashlight
they sure don't make um like the used to

#1 Eveready pocket light with an ornate gold filled overlay. It only stands 3 inches tall, but is a real beauty for the pocket.
#2 1930 Art Deco 2 AAA cell, 900 silver pocket flashlight, hand engraved with a crosshatch design
#3 Ever Ready made the first Sterling Silver flashlights about 1904. They used a battery pack that was made of 2 "AA" cells. The above is the hand engraved design. Since these were hand engraved, each light has its own style. There were several other patterns. They made lights for Tiffanys of New York

I bought this led lamp that is recharged with a hand generator, costed me a bit more than a dollar. I guess I have to hunt for deers in the daylight though...

If you can blind a deer with your flashlight you can also blind a human, pretty important task for a decent torch imo.
